Hi michellebise67. I didn't realise you were still with us :-) Hope you are still hanging in there and not smoking. It's been 66 days now for me and I feel wonderful although it has been extremely hard. As a confirmed smoker who has tried to quit more times than I care to remember I think this time will be the permanent quit!

Did you get the Allen Carr book or CD's? I still listen to them and they have helped tremendously. Infact i've just bought his second book which expands on the first book an gives more detail on why we don't need to smoke - I'm sure it's brainwashing to some extent but at least it works.

You should come and join the Team 8-9-10 group and have a chat to people who also quit aroiund August and September - oh, and it's free to join :-)

what did you use to quit? The Allen Carr only? How long has it been for you?
I read the book last night some more, it really is a good book and I hope it does what it says, but I am not having that many cravings right now, the drive home is the worst and almost went the other way to buy some but I was like no, you have gone almost 48 hours with no cigs in your system all you have to do is go till 6:30pm on Wednesday and you will have the 72 hours of no cigs and most or all the nicotine will be out of your system, so I elected to go home instead and read.
I am going to not drink for a bit too cause that is my down fall, I so want this quit so bad! Plus me and a friend are going to do the couch to 5K training, kinda excited!

I think you can download the Allen Carr audio as MP3's from iTunes or buy the CD's from Amazon here http://www.amazon.co.uk/Allen-Carrs-...7525421&sr=8-1 - Can't remember where I got mine from.

My quit seems to be going ok and the cravings are getting fewer and further apart but I know it's easy to get complacent.

Welcome back. Never too late to stop smoking so maybe now is the time for you to make sure this is the final quit. I've tried to quit more times than I care to think about but this time I'm determined to stop for good. I don't want to end up dying a slow death, suffocating because I couldn't stop. Have you tried listening to the Allen Carr CD's "easy way to stop smoking"? I found them very good for explaining why we fail to stop and why we always end up back on the fags.

Good to see you back on the forum and trying again - at least you've not just admitted defeat and gone back to smoking like so many people do. It's so damn hard to stay quit - I've tried it sooooo many times and failed but I'm hoping I can stay with it this time. Saying that, I once gave up for nearly 3 years and started again so I know how hard it is! We just have to keep trying and hoping I suppose :-)))

Hi there, Kevin here (RDNZL999). Sorry to hear you didn't manage to keep quit but at least you're trying again. I've lost count of the number of times I've tried to quit over the past 30+ years - it must be at leat twice a year, so you shouldn't feel too bad about it as long as you realise that it is not good to smoke and are willing to try again.

Every time time I quit and start again I feel like sh?t and stupid and have been ridiculed by other smokers who tell me I'm a smoker for life and seem to get a laugh out of watching me struggle. I don't give up though and one day I'll beat this addiction (hopefully this time).

I'd bet that most people on the forum have tried quitting and failed on more than one occasion so don't feel as though you are the first person to fail

Get posting and keep in touch !!!!!!!
