Default Day three or Day two??

Hi to anyone who sees this

I smoked my last complete cigarette at 10pm on Friday just gone (22nd), had half of someone else's at about 7pm last night (24th), which did me no good at all. So am I on day 2 or 3? I think day 2... I've never posted on anything like this before but have got frankly fed up with being forty years old and wheezing and catching my breath, mainly while lifting stuff at work.....so I'm on my first serious attempt to quit since 1992, and currently want to "kill" someone (figuratively, I'm really ratty at the moment!!). So here I am tapping away, and it's helped for the few minutes I have been doing this!

Hello Angry Bear

Firstly, congrats on your decision to quit, and a warm welcome. There will be loads of advice and support on here for you. We've all been where you are.

Your poor thing, we all remember those early days well. Are you cold turkey, or using some NRT?

Regarding your quit date, technically, if you smoked yesterday, then today is your first smoke free day. However, we don't want to knock you back to Day 1, and I don't think you'll find anyone on here that precious and nit picky about sneaking a few puffs off someone else's ciggie.

So basically - call it whatever day you like, just try to stick with NOPE (Not One Puff Ever) from hereon.

Come on here and rant when you need - apologies never necessary. You may well find that reading a few posts and letting off some steam will get your over a crave. We won't enocurage you to kill anyone, but we can all empathise with your murderous thoughts!

Once again, congrats, right decisison. Good luck and keep posting. It will get better.

BW, Shazza

Default Hey ShazzaH

Hey thanks for the response! No, it's cold turkey for me....I was about ready to start snapping again at the wife and kids earlier (God Bless 'Em!) when there was an ad on TV for tablets you can take to help you CUT DOWN! That was it, I was off to the chemist, cos if I buy these at however much they are, THEN I CAN STILL SMOKE! I didn't though, I came online and found this forum; if I hadn't I'd have had a cig by now, so thanks for being there.

No, day 1 is fine by me, I do feel as though I've barely smoked in three days though, just don't like feeling mad all the time, and I'm already fed up with Extra Strong Mints! Still, I'm typing here, not smoking......

Only 3 days for all the nicotine to be gone from your system, so it will start to be less painful soon. Need to keep your guard up though! Onwards and upwards!

Hi Angrybear,
So you're on day 3 today Good luck on your quit, i've wanted to kill people before on previous quits but managed not to You can do this, if you want to quit more than you want to smoke. Oh & don't have even one drag because I did that & ruined a 4 month & 2 month quit - one drag leads to another, then another pack & before you know it you're smoking again!!

Thanks for the replies....I was laid up in bed all day Saturday which prompted this quit attempt; I felt so lousy and I knew it was the cigs that had done it...that's why maybe I don't actually feel any better from not smoking, maybe it's the chest infection going? I could swear I can breathe deeper though, maybe it's just psychological! I'm not sure I should expect a physical improvement so soon!

I only tried to quit once before, 20 years ago, lasted a week as I remember although I bet it wasn't that long...I'd only been smoking two years then!

I quit on the spur of the moment because I had a hacking cough and had been whezzing for some time. I went from feeling utter S*** to loosing the cough and the wheezing within a week. Yes within 3 days you can feel so much better. Important to keep it in your mind what you felt like before you stopped smoking. Don't be tempted to think oh I feel better now so I can smoke again. You would very quickly be back to feeling crap again.
